Excellent location and makes a great change from bland boring hotel rooms!
Location to Ponds Forge, and parking
Boat needing general maintenance, especially floor in toliet area
the location is lovely - quiet canal in the heart of the city
this is not a luxury experience! I felt the boat had seen better days and the interior was shabby. the smell of disinfectant from the toilet cartridge was overpowering when you were in the bedroom area of the boat
SUCH a differen concept I liked tyhe flexibility more like home than a HOTELThanks vChris
The concept is simple - stay on a houseboat tied up in the canal. The boat was charming and well fitted. I even tried out the shower, which was great. Loved it and the area.
Cobles around the boat proved tricky with high heels on, but the boat was perfect
Very relaxing and romantic setting, I would book again and again
It was a different experience in a central location. Better than a boring hotel room.
Interesting, quirky, different. Close to city centre. The Spa at the Hilton was wonderful!
More spartan than I expected and the beds were very small for double. Ended up banging my head too much on the ledge above the bed (gone home with a cut forehead!). Nice for a one off but not sure that it is something i would want to repeat.Having said that plenty of positive comments in the books on the boat from happy guests.
Fantastic , friendly pre stay information. Exactly as described, fantastic location , countryside in the heart of the city. Very peaceful.
The Massage chair on the Mallard narrowboat was great. The CDs available for the music system were a good range. Real milk left in the fridge for tea and coffee (also supplied) made it feel more homely than a hotel with their uht cartons. Staying on a narrowboat was much more interesting than staying in a hotel.
I found the loo on the Mallard narrowboat very difficult to flush. The led light had a loose connection so you need your own torch to see the lock.
The location is superb with very convenient parking. It was a different experience to staying in a traditional hotel. We will stay again, especially in summer when we can appreciate the quayside more. It snowed when we came so we couldn't sit on the deck.
The home from home feeling (even though we don't live on a boat). The excellent facilities, and warm welcome gifts.
It was so out of the ordinary! And very quaint. And surprisingly warm and cozy for being on the water in January.
I wish the water was drinkable, but they can't help that.
When there were issues someone did come out to us as soon as they could. And it was a different experience to staying in a regular hotel
I felt it was over-priced considering the size of the facilities such as the shower room.
Location, in a restored cit wharf was interesting
Negligible advance instructions re access and parking. No personal contact at all while on site - had to discover parking arrangements and access info with local shopkeepers. No access step provided as requested - advised too late that it was on another houseboat. Low standard of furniture and equipment. Gas alarm went off when using hob. Water heating system was insufficient hot to provide for shower. No food provided for breakfast in fridge for breakfast - had to drive off to supermarket in evening for supplies, invoking additional parking charges. No storage for clothes or luggage - all had to be stached on living area floor.
